Also, since it is the first Sunday of the month:
(1) We receive the caring and sharing offering - all of this money goes towards helping people in our community (and people you know that are in need). If you ever have a need or know of someone in need, please let anyone in leadership know. You can always bring non-perishable food items to fill our food cupboard as well.
(2) We have an intentional time of prayer for healing during the gathering.

Acts 7 | Video Scripture Reading

On Sunday, September 23 at TILT we’ll be covering Acts 7, which is when Stephen addresses the council. We thought it would be fun to do a collaborative scripture reading and hence this posting. Here’s the idea – to have as many people as possible reading various parts of the scripture and then cut it together into a video scripture reading. If you’ve ever seen the music video for Michael Jackson’s Black or White, you’ll sort of know what I’m talking about (near the end when all the different people are lip syncing and it just keeps cycling through people). Watch the video here. The part I'm talking about is in the last minute of the video.

I hope to be able to ‘film’ this on this Sunday night after TILT and would only need a few minutes of people’s time. It will just be a head and shoulders shot with you reading the Scripture that I tell you to read!

Acts | A New Translation

Hot off the press! As we have been mentioning for a couple of weeks at the TILT gathering, we have purchased a bunch of copies of a new translation called the Voice - specifically, "The Dust off their feet" is a translation of Acts. It is refreshing and tells the story in an engaging manner that opens your eyes in new ways! If you are interested, please talk to anyone on leadership at TILT or leave a comment on this post. I believe they are $9, but if you can't pay any or all of that, don't let that stop you - we will still give you the book!

Acts | A New Series

This Sunday we are beginning a series going through the book of Acts, which is the story of Christ's followers after the Resurrection. Gene will be preaching on Acts 1:1-12

In my first book I told you, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began to do and teach until the day he was taken up to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit. During the forty days after his crucifixion, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”

He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile.
